Please join us for an informative and practical morning with Alice Beaney (Steart Reserve Warden) at WWT Steart Marshes. Alice will start the morning with a 30-minute presentation, covering the background of the site, water vole ecology, field signs, and surveying techniques. She will then help us look for water vole signs on site, and discuss how to undertake a habitat suitability assessment.
Please note this training event will cover surveying for water vole field signs (burrows, feeding stations and droppings) and how to carry out a habitat assessment, but will not include water vole mitigation strategies.
Refreshments will be provided on arrival, but please bring your own lunch if you wish to explore the site further and enjoy its varied habitats after the formal training session.
Please wear appropriate footwear/clothing for the outdoor survey and weather.
